MARSHALL COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Trial continued for a Marshall County couple charged with seriously abusing their 2-year-old child after the child was found with broken bones, bite marks, and bruises all over his body.

Two of the child's pediatricians testified.

One of them said of the injuries the only thing he could come up with was the child was the victim of some kind of abuse or neglect.

Thursday, prosecutors put on witnesses in their case against Angel and Yuliana Torres.

The Arab couple is charged with six counts of child abuse related charges involving their 2-year-old son, Alex.

Alex was taken into DHR custody in early 2011 after doctors began suspecting abuse was part of his not gaining weight as normal children do for his age.

Thursday, Children's Hospital Dr. Melissa Peters testified Alex had serious bruising on nearly all parts of his body, even in places where bruising is hard such as the ears and underarms.

Prosecutors showed photographs on a television screen as the doctor described the injuries, which also included injuries consistent with bite marks on the child's shoulder and foot while saying it would be unlikely that the child could maneuvered himself to make those bites.

Prosecutors could rest their case as early as Friday.
