HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
An injured soldier is on is way back to the United States.
Staff Sergeant Christopher Walker was critically hurt when and IED exploded near him in Afghanistan last week.
Jessica Walker, the soldier's ex-wife, set up an account for him after the injury. The soldier's family was made aware of the Huntsville account on Monday.
The soldier's family questioned where the money will go. Walker said she set up the account at Redstone Federal Credit Union. A credit union spokesperson said the business was unable to talk about the account due to privacy laws.
"You're not dealing with a non-profit this is just a local request," said BBB spokesperson Michele Mason.
The BBB warns once you put money into any personal account there's no way to know what the money will be used for.
"We do encourage you to do your homework because we want to make sure there really are true needs there and that persons intent really is to provide the help that they say they are going to do," said Mason.
Jessica Walker's father said his daughter had every intention to donate the money from the Huntsville account to her ex-husband's family even though they divorced two days before his injury.
Court documents show Staff Sergeant Walker was adamant, while in Afghanistan, that the divorce goes through.
Ms. Walker's father said had talked about the account, but hired legal representation and was told not to speak about the issue.
Staff Sergeant Walker's family created a fund in his Virginia hometown.
