MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A bill in favor of home-brewing passed the House Thursday.

House Bill 354 passed 44 to 33, but not before it drew some heated debate.

Some lawmakers said allowing adults to brew alcoholic beverages in their home shouldn't be allowed. Rick Tarvin, a brewmaster with Straight to Ale in Huntsville disagreed.

"'People are brewing their own stuff now, I don't think it's going to take away from business," said Tarvin.  "I think it helps people become more aware of what's out there as far as different styles of beer. People find something they enjoy little more than what's available to them."

The bill will now move on the Senate.
