HACKLEBURG, AL -
Alabama Governor Robert Bentley will attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Wrangler Jeans plant in Hackleburg Thursday.
The ceremony is set for 12:30 p.m. at the construction site on Hwy 431 in Hackleburg.
The plant was destroyed when an EF5 tornado ripped through the town on April 27th, 2011. VF Corporation, the company that owns it, announced it would rebuild the plant in August.
The company is the town's largest employer. Officials said plant workers would be reassigned to other duties until the new plant is completed in 2013. They also plan to add about 50 additional jobs at the new facility.
