FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -

Residents in the Shoals participated in the Annual Crime Victims' Rights Week candlelight vigil.

Friends and family gathered in memory of their loved ones who lost their lives in violent crimes.

The program created by Victims of Crime and Leniency is a way to let families know they're not alone.

"There's some acceptance in knowing they're not alone they're innocent victims for the most part they don't deserve what ever happened or had happened to them," said Denny Kimbrel, Shoals Chapter President.

The Tuesday night vigil is part of National Crime Victims' Rights Week.
