Redstone Arsenal Gate 7 and Martin Road West have been reopened.
All employees were asked to use an alternate route leaving work Tuesday.
Arsenal officials said an unexploded ordnance was discovered while excavating near building 6301 on Martin Road. The incident site has been secured with no injuries.
An explosive ordnance disposal team is en route from Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
