Stars fall to Generals

Courtesy of 13 hits and four homeruns, the Jackson Generals beat the Huntsville Stars by a score of 11-8 at Joe Davis Stadium on Saturday night.

What was billed before the game as a potential pitchers duel between Stars RHP Tyler Thornburg and LHP James Paxson turned into an offensive barrage, as the two teams combined for 19 runs and 28 hits in the game.

After being down by a score of 7-4 after three innings, the Generals scored seven unanswered runs at one point to cruise to the victory.

Both CF Denny Almonte and DH Joe Dunigan has 2 homeruns apiece for the Generals, combining to go 7-for-10 at the plate with eight runs batted in. For the Stars, RHP Bradley Banks was tabbed with the loss in two innings of relief, falling to 1-1 on the season.

Game three of a five game series will take place on Sunday as the Stars will send RHP Evan Anundsen (0-1, 2.25 ERA) to face off against highly-touted RHP Tijuan Walker (2-0, 1.64 ERA). First pitch is at 4:03 PM.
