MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

School officials evacuated students and staff members from Sparkman Middle School because of smoke in the building on Tuesday morning around 11 a.m.

Toney Fire responded to the possible school fire but determined malfunctioning electrical fans were the source of the smoke.

Fire crews removed the smoke, but it is still under investigation by the Madison County Fire Marshal's Office.

School leaders said every person were evacuated and remained outside until firefighters cleared the building.
