ETOWAH COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

An Etowah County judge ruled earlier this week that the woman accused of running her grandaughter to death would be allowed to come back to the crime scene.

Officials say Joyce Garrad was escorted to the home where authorities say 9-year-old Savannah Hardin was run to death on Carlisle Acres Road outside of Attalla.

An Etowah County Judge ruled Joyce Garrard would be allowed to come back to the crime scene with her attorneys. Law enforcement had to keep their distance as to not hear what she and her attorneys were saying.

One neighbor said his wife told him she saw several vehicles outside the home around mid-morning Friday. Another neighbor said his wife told him she saw up to a dozen law enforcement vehicles outside the home and a woman in a yellow jumpsuit.

The judge has issued a gag order in the case.

The Sheriff's Department would only comment they were there to carry out a judge's order.

A grand jury indicted Garrard on capital murder and her Savannah's mother stepmother Jessica Hardin on felony murder charges.
