MORGAN COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - Two gunman were arrested in Huntsville less than 24 hours after a brutal home invasion in Morgan County.
Around 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, a brutal armed robbery happened at a home on Apple Grove Road in the Morgan City community.
Officials say two men armed with a semi-automatic handgun entered the home. One man stood guard outside the home, while the other held several people hostage inside. The suspects severely beat one of the victims while the rest of the victims were held up at gunpoint. The victims reported that the men threatened to kill them if they tried to help the man getting beaten or interfere in anyway. The man was beaten, kicked, and pistol whipped.
The suspects then took money, cell phones, and wallets from the victims before fleeing the scene in a light colored Chevy Tahoe.
When the suspects left, the victims called 911 while the beaten victim was taken to the Marshall Medical Center.
Members of the Sheriff's Criminal Investigation responded to the scene and the Marshall Medical Center to speak with the victims. Agents discovered a one-pot meth lab inside the victims' home. The drug task force was then called to investigate the case.
Investigators were able to identify two suspects in the case. They are 40-year-old Anthony Keith Williams of Decatur and 29-year-old John Earl Neal Carr of Arab.
Police issued an alert for surrounding areas to be on the lookout for the two suspects and the light colored Chevy Tahoe.
Around 11:00 p.m. in Huntsville, a Huntsville Officer stopped a vehicle that matched the description of the suspects'.
Huntsville Police arrested Carr and Williams. They also found a one-pot meth lab and a handgun in their vehicle. Both Williams and Carr face first degree robbery, burglary, assault, and other charges from Morgan County. Carr had active arrest warrants for robbery charges in Arab. Huntsville Police has charged Williams and Carr with meth lab and firearms violations.
Bonds have not yet been set for the Morgan County charges.
