MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
Rick Santorum announced he suspended his campaign and dropped out of the 2012 Presidential Race on Tuesday.
Santorum won the Alabama Primary, but in the end he could not keep up with Mitt Romney.
Alabama gained a lot of focus during the primary.
WAFF 48's Political Analyst, Dr. Waymon Burke, said that spotlight was probably a one-time-thing.
"I think Alabama's time has come and gone. I think it's less likely that either candidate or their vice presidents would come here unless it's for a fundraiser - and that would probably be a very private event. The reason is the contest for president will be played out in 18 states: 18 states that have 270 electoral votes," said Burke.
Burke believes Alabama will not get any major attention in the rest of the Presidential race.
