FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -

Friends and family gathered for an emotional candlelight vigil Sunday night to remember the life of Brooklyn Hollins.

Dozens of loved ones lit candles and released balloons in Hollins' memory at Brandon Elementary School in Florence.

"My heart goes out to her family and everybody and I'm doing my best to help everyone through it. It's a hard time right now everybody loved her she was a great person." said Emily Davis, a childhood friend of Hollins.

14-year-old Hollins was killed in a stabbing Saturday morning at a home on Winona Street in Florence.

Florence Police said 17-year-old Autumn Wood is charged with Hollins' murder and will be tried as an adult. She was booked in the Lauderdale County Detention Center Saturday morning on a $50,000 bond.
