State Troopers and emergency responders responded to a tractor trailer accident on I-65 Friday.
It happened around 4 p.m. at the 318 mile marker at the Cullman/Morgan County line.
Police say a tractor trailer apparently ran off the road and tried to over correct and ran off the right hand side of the road tearing down about 180 feet of guard rail, flipping over, trapping the driver inside.
Vinemont fire crews had to use jaws to remove 49-year-old Vince Able from Birmingham. He was taken to Cullman Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries.
Workers had to cut away some of the guard rail just so they could pull the truck out. One of the wreckers broke down during the process.
Officials say traffic is still backed up from wreck just past the Falkville exit in Morgan County.
Only the southbound lane is open at this time.
No other vehicles were involved.
