HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Huntsville Police are investigating a shooting death at Main Street Apartments.

Officers responded to the report of a shooting just before noon Friday in the 1400 block of Paramount Drive.

When officers arrived, they located the victim who had been fatally injured. Witnesses tell WAFF 48 that the shooting was accidental.  Police have not confirmed that.

Coming home to the site of crime scene tape and cop cars was quite a shock for tenant Matt Tomlinson.

"I asked my neighbors what happened and they said that somebody got shot and they just took the body away," Tomlinson said.

Despite what tenants call an unusual site around their complex, Tomlinson said he's happy where he lives.

"I love it here it is a little scary," he said.  "Makes me think it's not as safe as I thought it was but it's still a nice place. A friendly environment the people are great so hopefully we can move on from this."

Police have not said if they are looking for suspects. The victim's name has not been released and the investigation is ongoing.
