TONEY, AL (WAFF) -

Plans for a new high school in Toney are officially on hold.

Madison County Schools Superintendent David Copeland announced on Wednesday; the new Sparkman School will not open in the fall of 2013.

The main issue with the school is funding. Rain has also delayed the construction.

The school board decided to halt the construction of the school for 60 days. They are waiting to see if a bill in the legislature will move forward. If the bill passes, it could bring more funding for the project.

Superintendent David Copeland wants to stress that the Sparkman School project is not dead. The board will wait for 60 days, then asses any new funds for the project.
