Lady Chargers fall in NCAA first round

The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team fell to the Delta State Lady Statesmen in the first round of the NCAA Women's South Region Tournament, 86-47, Friday at Warden Arena on the campus of Rollins College. The Lady Chargers finished their season at 23-7, marking the team's second-most victories in program history.

Sophomore Jasmine Hammon highlighted the night for UAH when she made the second of two free throw attempts at the 17:17 mark in the second half. With the made free throw, Hammon notched her 1,000th career point and became just the fifth Lady Charger to achieve the milestone in program history.

Hammon picked up her ninth double-double of the season, scoring 13 points to go along with a game-high 12 rebounds, while fellow sophomore Jordan Smith scored a team-high 17 points on 6-of-14 shooting.
