MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Some Tennessee Valley teens could face jail time over joy rides in Madison County. At the beginning of February there have been five vehicles reported stolen in Huntsville according to Huntsville Police.

Officials say all the vehicles have been recovered. In some cases only gas was missing from the vehicle.

Huntsville Police say three people were arrested Sunday night for the same types of crimes. Their names and charges have not been released.

Huntsville Police Spokesperson Dr. Harry Hobbs says there are some things you can do to keep yourself from being a victim of opportunity.

"Ensure that your vehicle is parked in a well lit area, make sure that it is locked up. If you have an anti theft device make sure it has been turned on. Make sure that there is no property in your vehicles that may entice someone that may want to break into your vehicle," said Dr. Hobbs.

The victim of one of the cases in the Blossomwood area did not want to go on camera, but WAFF 48 News has learned that her car was stolen with a full tank and found with about a quarter tank of gas.

Police say if you see suspicious activity in your neighborhood to give them a call to prevent these instances from happening.
