HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Angel Sims loves to keep up with the latest style and fashion; especially when it comes to her hair.

However, it was the hair being "whipped" by a young star that gave the Williams Middle School 6th grader a bright idea.

"It all started when Willow Smith came out with her video "Whip My Hair Back and Forth". After I saw that, it just intrigued me to want to become a designer," said Sims.

Sims' creations are becoming very popular. She designs tutus, and she has about nine in her collection so far. They are made in some of the season's hottest colors, and seems like everyone wants one.

"Every time I wear one, I always get the question 'Can you make me one?" said Sims.

Her talent recently caught the eye of several local fashion show organizers. Angel went to a model call, and she was asked to be one of the shows featured designers. The show is February 25th at the Von Braun Center.

"She said 'After this model call, can you come talk to me because I really want to talk to you', and I said 'yes ma'am'. So, after the model call, I went to talk to her, and she said 'what if I ask you to be in my fashion show, what would you say?', and I said, 'I would say yes', and that's basically how it all came about," said Sims.

While Angel is excited about showcasing her designs. She is also a honor roll student, who loves history.

She is a fashionable one as well.

That is why Angel Sims is a WAFF 48 Star Student.

David: Showers and storms ongoing across the Valley

    Saturday, March 25 2017 5:50 PM EDT2017-03-25 21:50:37 GMT

Showers and storms will be ongoing across the Valley this evening. The most widespread rain will be over northeastern AL, but additional scattered storms will track into the Shoals from the west. That round of stormy weather will head east with time and should be out of the Valley after midnight. The threat for severe storms is low, but a few strong storms are possible.
