HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A man accused of killing another man in 2007 is sentenced to 15 years in jail.

Julius Cortez Cawthorne pleaded guilty to manslaughter in a Madison County courtroom Monday.

Police say Cawthorne also known as "Meatball," shot and killed Latransezon Malloy.

It happened inside a convenience store on Pulaski Pike in Huntsville on Christmas day.

Malloy's family was in court for the plea.

"It was a good outcome because the family didn't have to  go through rigors of trial and they got to see him admit guilt," said Jonathan Hubbert, prosecutor.
