HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Huntsville Catholic Church leaders are fired up over the Obama Administration's plan to require employers to provide birth control coverage to employees. The plan extended to employers with religious affiliation, but President Obama eliminated the changed clause Friday.
"To say that you must do this, you must provide something that you find morally objectionable regardless of what society thinks about it, that's wrong," said Father Vincent Bresowar.
Bresowar is a priest at Holy Spirit Church in Huntsville. He's followed the birth control debate closely.
"That they could even conceive to do something like this in the first place means what could come up in the future?" said Father Bresowar. "If it's not this topic, what about something else?"
The priest told WAFF 48 News the debate has also allowed church leaders to share their message to people they usually can't reach and eliminate common misconceptions people have.
"We're certainly not against women's health," he said.
He's not chalking this up as a win, but he's happy the Obama Administration listened to religious leaders concerns.
