Pain at the pump affects local businesses

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

According to experts, when temperatures go up so will the price of gas. Gas prices are already above $3.30 and by Spring the numbers are expected to go up by 60 cents making them about $4 a gallon.

Drivers will not be the only ones feeling the pain at the pump. Marco's Pizza manager Darren Ezzo said he fears the spike in gas prices will drive up the price of cheese.

The cost of pizza will likely stay the same, but Ezzo said they have to change as the gas prices do.

"Our delivery charge has been $2 a delivery ever since we opened up here and we will not raise that unless we go over $4 a gallon which again we may or may not raise it 25 cents for deliveries only," Ezzo said.

Delivery driver David Jacoby said the higher the pizza costs, the lower his tips can be.

"It definitely affects us in a couple of different ways," Jacoby said. "First off it makes it more expensive to get out and deliver pizzas it can also affect our tips because the people that are buying pizzas are buying gas too so everything is gas driven."
