LAUDERDALE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Thieves broke into a home and stole items belonging to the late daughter of a woman in Lauderdale County. Now a total stranger is offering to pay for a tombstone for little Maggie Grace, something the mother, Lela Duncan has been saving money to buy.

Duncan's daughter, Maggie Grace died in a car crash in January 2010. The kind-hearted stranger told WAFF 48 they wish to remain anonymous. They emailed us this statement:

"Knowing that she will not have to worry about the expense is my way of helping. The loss of her daughter is more than any parent can bear. Though I have no children of my own I have lost (both) of my parents and understand."

Duncan read the email several times. She said she could not find words to express her gratitude to what she calls her "angel on earth."

Duncan said she plans to go pick out the headstone Thursday morning and will have it delivered on what would've been Maggie's 12th birthday later this month.
