Madison school participates in 'Shake out' drill

MADISON, AL (WAFF) - Students in the valley are preparing for a natural disaster.

Tuesday was The Great Central U.S. Shakeout Earthquake Drill. Schools in several central and southern states participated in the drill.

Students at Madison Crossroads Elementary School have been practicing the drill.

"We will stop, we will drop, and they will crawl under a piece of furniture. They will remain there until a fire drill is practiced and they will evacuate the building," said Mitzi Dennis, Principal.

Nearly 1,000 students participated. School officials say they're excited to participate, and it's important to be prepared for any kind of disaster.
