Marshall County school wins national recycling competition

MARSHALL COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - A Marshall County school wins a big award for their recycling efforts.

Marshall Christian Academy was honored for its efforts as part of the First Annual Recycle Bowl Competition.

The school competed against 1200 schools from across the nation.

Competition officials say each student recycled approximately 40 pounds for a total of 8,000 pounds over the four week competition period starting in mid October.

"Recycling is the one thing we can all do for the environment. It's easy and it's simple and it really saves natural resources as well as energy," Kelley Dennings, Keep America Beautiful.

The school was awarded $3500.
