DEKALB COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

The capital murder trial for a DeKalb County woman starts Monday.

Prosecutors said they will focus on jury selection Monday and Tuesday. They allege Karri Willoughby killed her stepfather by lethal injection in 2008.

More than 1,300 members show support for Willoughby in the Facebook group, "Truth for Karri." On Saturday, Willoughby's husband posted a letter that she wrote for her Facebook supporters.

It said, in part, "My time has finally come! Both justice and truth will finally be served or an innocent woman will be sent to prison for life."

For nearly two years, Willoughby has been behind bars in DeKalb County Jail awaiting trial.

In 2010, a grand jury indicted Willoughby on capital murder based on toxicology results. The report revealed her stepfather, 65-year-old Billie Shaw, died from a propofol injection.

A heart attack was originally ruled as his cause of death but the new findings led investigators to exhume his body a year later.

The prosecution said Willoughby stood to inherit up to $300,000 from Shaw's estate. Willoughby turned herself in to authorities in May 2010 after being charged with Shaw's murder.

A judge denied a motion to grant bond for Willoughby. The mother of two pleaded not guilty to the capital murder charge.

Prosecutors said they'll give potential jurors a questionnaire in the first two days of this case.
