He's no stranger to the Heart of the Valley! Born and raised in the small town of Courtland, Alabama, Fred Davenport is the newest addition to our news team as a weekend reporter. He began his career at WAFF 48 as a production camera operator, then moving to news photographer a year later. He also completed both of his college internships at WAFF 48.
At Alabama A&M University, Fred is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
Fred has always been passionate about television news. He says WAFF 48 News has been his favorite news station since he was child. Anchors Mark Thornhill, Kim Essex, Wes Torain and Liz Hurley gave him the extra push to become a journalist.
In his spare time, Fred enjoys fishing, playing golf and volunteering with both North Courtland and Courtland Volunteer Fire Department.
