DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -
Decatur fire fighters responded to an overnight house fire at 2218 Morgan Ave. around 2 a.m. Friday.
When they arrived, flames were shooting out of the roof and the windows of the home. Fire fighters assumed someone was in the house because there was a car parked in the driveway, but once the fire was out, investigators were able to determine that no one was in the home at the time.
Investigators said the power had been cut off for some time.
Neighbors said the man who lived in the house had been staying at his mothers for a while.
Investigators plan to return to the house later in the morning to determine the official cause.
Decatur fire fighters also worked another house fire early Thursday morning off Hamaker Street. A family of eight was displaced after a fire started in the downstairs bedroom. Investigators are still working to determine that cause.
