DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -
Decatur's finest got some special recognition Thursday night. The Decatur Police Department held its annual awards banquet.
Twenty-one officers on the Krystal homicide task force received the "Unit" award.
The double homicide happened in August.
Within 24 hours after two employees were murdered at the Decatur Krystal, police arrested three suspects.
"Our officers banded together. Officers from several different units formed together on a task force. And we were able to bring that to a successful resolution," said Decatur Police Chief Ed Taylor. "Tremendously proud of their effort and the outstanding work they did on that case."
The Decatur PD also recognized the Morgan County Rescue Squad and the HEMSI Underwater Recovery Team. Their divers found the gun police say was used in the murder in Wilson Morgan Lake.
