MUSCLE SHOALS, AL (WAFF) -
A Muscle Shoals man is going to prison for health care fraud.
Officials say Jackie Gist owned The Good Samaritan Hospice, USA in Muscle Shoals from 2006 to 2009. Gist will spend 28 months in prison for engaging in what officials called criminal conspiracy to defraud medicare.
Gist pleaded guilty back in September to those accusations.
They say during that time he submitted medicare claims for amounts greater than actual cost for services they provided.
Investigators say Gist pocketed over $3 million from those claims in a three year span. His prison sentence begins April 2nd.
