HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Residents in the Owens Cross Roads community of Bristol Creek are fearful of more flooding after residents spent hours cleaning up Monday.
"If things get worse, we can just leave," said Bristol Creek homeowner Michael Harper.
Harper is running out of patience. On Monday, his neighborhood looked more like a lazy river. Cars were half-way submerged in the water.
Another storm is set to blast north Alabama with more rain Thursday. Harper's praying his neighborhood doesn't see a repeat.
The homeowner believes the problem sits behind his property. Bristol Creek was supposed to carry all the water out of the area. When it overflows, Harper believes the water sits there.
"It's not moving," said Harper.
Roger Mathisen lives a few doors down from Harper. He spoke to his wife about putting up sandbags ahead of Thursday's storm.
"It would take a lot of sandbags," said Mathisen. He's scrapped the plan and is risking it all to ride out another January rain storm.
