COLBERT COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

The former office manager for Colbert County 911 received a two-year suspended sentence after pleading guilty to theft.

35-year-old Crystal Huddleston pleaded guilty Monday to first-degree theft of property involving money taken from the office.

Huddleston was accused of collecting $41,000 in unauthorized sick leave payments and pay for time she did not work.

Huddleston was fired in November 2010 after officers and an auditor discovered thousands of dollars were missing. She was suspended without pay for two weeks before her termination.

District Attorney Bryce Graham Jr. said Huddleston's lack of a prior criminal record was a factor in the decision to allow her to receive a suspended sentence in exchange for the guilty plea.
