MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
Retiring Madison County Chairman Mike Gillespie made an announcement that he will endorse three-time congressional candidate Wayne Parker.
Gillespie made the announcement Tuesday at the Renasant Bank Building in Huntsville.
Also running for chairman against Parker is District 4 County Commissioner Republican Dale Strong. He released a statement on the endorsement.
"Today's endorsement shows that this election is a clear choice between the career politicians who oppose real change or a committed conservative like myself who will end politics as usual and reform our county government. I am running for Chairman to bring real conservative change to the County Commission so we can cut wasteful spending, create new jobs and do more to support our families. Mike Gillespie is a career politician with a 32 year record of opposing these efforts at every turn. The fact that he is now trying to hand pick his successor shows just how out of touch he is with this community."
