MARSHALL COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
17-year-old Immanuel Gage Allen was charged Tuesday afternoon with capital murder in the murder of a child under the age of 14.
He's accused of killing 11-month-old Gemma LaShae Moore who was taken from a home on Denise Circle in Albertville. She died last Thursday, one day after Allen's 17th birthday.
Investigators told the court the child died from blunt force trauma to the head.
Meanwhile, prosecutors filed a motion to lower the bond for 24-year-old Bridgett Duncan from two million to ten thousand on her aggravated child abuse charges.
Prosecutors said new information questions just what role, if any, Duncan had in the crime.
"That any information with regard to her would have occurred several days prior to the injuries that were inflicted on death, we continue to evaluate those charges. We'll discuss whether or not those need to be changed, whether or not they need to be raised, whether or not they need to be dismissed. But that decision will continue to be made in the future based on additional forensic information we intend to receive," said Marshall County District Attorney Steve Marshall.
Duncan is now out on bond.
Meanwhile, Allen is currently being held in the Blount County Jail without bond.
Family members say funeral services for Gemma are set for Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Sanctuary Church in Albertville.
