Tuscumbia Police Chief Tony Logan found guilty of DUI

An Etowah County jury found Tuscumbia Police Chief Tony Logan guilty of misdemeanor DUI.

Logan's trial began Monday and the jury was charged Wednesday. The jury returned the guilty verdict around 10 a.m. Thursday.

Logan was arrested for driving drunk in Florence in December of 2009. Court officials moved his trial to Etowah County.

WAFF-48 Legal Analyst Mark McDaniel said there is likely a good reason why the verdict was returned so quickly.

'This jury certainly considered the evidence in the case was overwhelming. To make a deicion that quick, jury's usually take more time. If they were set overwhelming case make a quick decision,' said McDaniel.

Logan was taken into custody by a Florence police officer and transported back to Florence. At this time, no bond has been set.
