JACKSON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
Several discount stores have been the target of thieves in the recent week.
It's happening in both Jackson and DeKalb Counties, and authorities believe there is a connection.
Sheriff's officials in DeKalb County said managers of the Family Dollar in Ider found someone had broken into the rear of the building when they arrived for work Wednesday morning. That's when they discovered an undetermined amount of cash taken from the store's safe.
Sheriff's officials in Jackson County said that also happened Sunday to a Family Dollar in Section.
"And they're the same M.O. They enter the same way. They break into the safes the same way. So, it's possibly, it's probably related," said DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris.
