Posted: Updated:

FLORENCE -- Dana Jackson scored 19 points and Jasmine Horne added 17 to lead the University of North Alabama women's basketball team to its fifth straight win with a 69-51 decision over Spring Hill.

The Lions, now 8-3 overall, pulled away from Spring Hill early in the second half as two three-point baskets by Jessi Smith broke a 34-34 tie and UNA never looked back. North Alabama's defense held Spring Hill to just 17 points in the second half on eight-of-27 shooting. Horne directed the UNA offense, scoring 17 points, passing out five assists and pulling seven rebounds. Michelle Fillmore scored nine points for the Lions and had 10 assists.

Rebounding in the game was even at 38, despite Spring Hill's April Bradford pulling 19 boards.

Spring Hill was just 22-of-62 from the floor, five-of-17 from the three-point line and two-of-seven from the free throw line.

The Lions have not lost since suffering a two-point setback to Tampa on November 25.

UNA opens Gulf South Conference play Thursday on the road at West Georgia. The Lions were unbeaten in regular-season conference play a year ago, winning the GSC East Division.
