School bus wreck leaves one dead, one injured in Calhoun County

CALHOUN COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - One man dies and another person is injured in a two-vehicle accident involving a school bus and a truck.

State Troopers said the crash happened around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday on Alexandria Jacksonville Highway, just two miles west of Jacksonville.

The driver traveling eastbound in 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, was killed when he lost control in a curve and struck a school bus driven by 61-year-old Dianne Brady Goode of Alexandria.

Goode was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries. Ten kids were on the bus at the time of the crash. No other injuries were reported.

The name of the victim has not yet been released. Officials said the victim was not wearing a seatbelt.

Although circumstances surrounding the crash are under investigation, State Troopers say speed was a factor.
