"Secret Santas" are popping up at Kmarts across the country, paying of people's bills. Now there are reports of it happening here in the Valley.

Employees at the Athens Kmart said the anonymous donors ask about who could use some help, and the Kmart staff obliges by referring customers who are having a tough time paying off their layaways. It has happened in several states. The donors reportedly look for people who have what appears to be Christmas presents on their bills, including toys.

"They come in they just tell the employees they want to pay on somebody's layaway that really needs the help. And, we'll go through and pull up the contracts and look for the ones that are big, late, and have Christmas items in them. We think it's a great thing. I mean, it's a lot on the layaways where the customer really needs the help on it," said Kmart Manager, Terry Cox.

The Athens Kmart reported there have been ten customers who have had secret help with their layaway bills, but only five of them have been told. That means there are some out there who don't know about the special Christmas gift just yet.
