Community comes together to help hit and run victims

GREENBRIER, TN (WSMV) -

A community is coming together to help the families of two young men involved in a deadly hit and run. Michael Brooksher passed away Monday, his best friend Tommy Allen is still in critical condition at Vanderbilt Hospital.

Michael and Tommy, who were the best of friends, always wanted to have car show. Saturday, thousands came together to make that dream come true while raising money for their grieving families.

They were hit last weekend while crossing Demonbreun Street in Downtown Nashville near Music Row. Metro police say Trevor Bradshaw was allegedly drunk behind the wheel and ran off after hitting the two men and a cab. Both Bradshaw and his girlfriend, Erin Brown, have been charged with vehicular homicide because investigators say she allowed Bradshaw to drive her car while he was reportedly drunk. Michael died from his injuries while his best friend Tommy remains in critical condition. As you might imagine, those closest to Michael have been devastated by the tragedy. They say all they can do now is take it day by day.

Saturday's benefit car show raised more than $14,000 for the victims' families. We're told even in death, Michael Brooksher is helping others. His parents tell Channel 4 he was an organ donor and as many as 10 patients have been helped because of his donation.

If you would like to help Michael's and Tommy's families, you can make a donation at any US bank branch by giving to the "T & B Foundation."
