Madison County community could possibly file bankruptcy

Posted: Updated:
MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

The town of Gurley could be forced to file bankruptcy.

This week a judge upheld a $5M verdict for M&N Materials.

M&N Materials sued the town of Gurley over a rock quarry. The case started back in 2003.

The company was denied a license to build a quarry and eventually sold the property to Vulcan Materials.

The city plans to take this to the Alabama's Court of Appeals. This a process that could take years.

Governor Robert Bentley tells WAFF 48 that there will be no bailout from the state.
