Auburn practices for second day in preparation for bowl game

The Auburn football team went to work for the second consecutive day, practicing for 90 minutes Tuesday under clear, sunny skies.

Again stressing work on fundamentals and technique, the Tigers split time between position and team drills in their morning practice with started at 9.

"I thought today was a really good day for our football team," Auburn head coach Gene Chizik said. "It was upbeat and I thought we were more focused today. It was a good overall day."

Auburn will practice each day this week, alternating between morning and evening practices. The Tigers will practice in Auburn through Dec. 21 and then break for three days before reporting to Atlanta for the Chick-fil-A Bowl on Dec. 25.

The Tigers will take on the Virginia Cavaliers Dec. 31 at 6:30 p.m. It will be the third meeting between the two teams and the first since 1998. Auburn defeated Virginia 28-17 in Charlottesville in 1997, but lost 19-0 in Auburn in 1998.

Auburn is making its fifth appearance in the Chick-fil-A Bowl. The Tigers are 3-1 in four previous games with the last coming in 2007.
