Huntsville Police are looking for a shooter and a motive in a murder.

It happened after 7 Thursday night on Galaxy Way off of Sparkman.

Police said someone shot and killed 20-year-old Cornelius Powell in an apartment complex parking lot.

Police responded to gunshots at the Twickenham Apartment complex last night.

By the time police got there, they found Powell with serious injuries. He later died at Huntsville Hospital.

Investigators surveyed the lot for any evidence.

Police say they're investigating this as a murder and looking for a shooter.

We've looked at Powell's background and found he was charged and pleaded guilty for marijuana possession in 2009. He was also arrested for carrying a concealed weapon but not charged.

Police are asking for the public's help in finding a suspect.
