University of North Alabama Head Football Coach Terry Bowden has agreed to terms for a one-year extension to his contract with the Lions, according to UNA Athletic Director Mark Linder.
Bowden initially signed a three-year contract with UNA in 2009 and has led the Lions to a combined 29-9 record that includes one Gulf South Conference championship and three consecutive NCAA playoff appearances. His 29 wins over his first three years at UNA are the most by any coach in the program's history over their first three years.
"I am excited about my contract extension with UNA," Bowden said. "The future of our athletic program here at UNA is very bright. I feel very blessed to have the opportunity to coach such an outstanding group of young men, and I look forward to continuing to build on the success that we've had here throughout my first three seasons."
"Coach Bowden and I recently met about the current status and the future direction of our football program," Linder said. "I am excited for Terry and our plan to strengthen our already successful program. We are committed to providing a department that our students, our alumni, our campus, and the Shoals community will be proud to support."
