DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -
The alleged victim in an assault involving former Alabama player Rolando McClain said he has known McClain and the other suspect since childhood.
23-year-old Rishard Papscott, who is still recovering from his injuries, said he grew up playing football and basketball with McClain and Jerodiuas Willingham in Decatur.
In a phone interview, Papscott said Wednesday night he was playing video games with friends when another friend invited him over.
Papscott said when he showed up at the friend's house, Willingham and McClain were waiting for him.
"I went over there, it was basically like an ambush, like they set me up to fight, because as soon as I got there they all went outside and I was sitting in the house. That's when they came back in the house and they were like, 'You're going to have to fight, come back out and fight.' I was like 'I ain't fighting, I ain't coming outside,' and that's when he came in the house and assaulted me," said Papscott.
"[Wednesday] night, before all the charges were pressed, I didn't want him [McClain] to get in trouble because I look at him like a brother, as a friend. I never thought it would come to this. What goes around comes around," Papscott continued.
Papscott said he suffered several broken ribs, a broken nose, and a mild concussion. He's also having some trouble talking out of the right side of his mouth.
Papscott said he plans to seek legal action for what happened.
