SCOTTSBORO, AL (WAFF) -
Court evidence was released to the clerk's office shedding new light on the situation the ongoing steroid scandal with the Scottsboro Police Department.
In court documents released Wednesday police department's internal affairs unit said the use for one officer was clearly illegal.
WAFF 48 obtained evidence presented at Scottsboro police officer Chris McIllwain's hearing last week
That evidence included his pre-employment questionnaire and most recent his internal affairs documents related to his three day suspension.
In his pre-employment questionnaire dated April 2007, officer McIllwain stated he had used steroids, in particular, testosterone enanthate, a class three controlled substance before he was hired.

In an internal affairs document officer McIllwain advised Capt. Godrey, Capt. Capps, and Chief Ralph Dawe that he had used steroids in the past. It's also stated that McIllwain had injected himself with steroids on Sunday November 6th, just two days before meeting with them.
He went on to say that he heard Lt. Shane Clarke, officers Jeremy Ake, and Gerald Mount had been taking steroids. Those three were also suspended.
In a release to the media last week Mayor Melton Potter said four officers were suspended for the "use of testosterone" and that it was his belief that information concerning our employees is confidential as long as no crimes are committed.
But in an another internal affairs document obtained Wednesday, McIllwain's use of testosterone was illegal.
The warning record states he was warned for "unlawful use of testosterone."
That officer McIllwain gave a written statement admitting to using testosterone without a prescription and getting it from officer Mount.
