UAH Men's Hoops Slips To No. 7

Posted: Updated:

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UAH men's basketball team slid five spots to the No. 7 position in the first regular season edition of the NABC/Division II Men's Basketball Poll. The Chargers were ranked second in the preseason poll.

The Chargers (4-2) took the tumble after losing its first of the season to North Georgia last week at the UWF Thanksgiving Classic. Monday's night setback against Harding did not factor into the rankings as voting was conducted prior to the contest.

Undefeated Bellarmine continues to hold down the top spot as it garnered all eight first-place votes. Missouri Southern follows in second with Metropolitan State, Lincoln Memorial and Southern Indiana rounding out the top five.

Humboldt State precedes the Chargers as it is ranked sixth. Indiana (Pa.) and Kentucky Wesleyan are ranked eighth and ninth, respectively, while NCAA South Region institution Benedict is ranked 10th. Other regional schools in the rankings include Florida Southern at 22nd and Rollins at No. 25.

No other Gulf South Conference member is in the top 25, but Christian Brothers did receive votes.

UAH will return to action with its new ranking on Sunday as it hosts Oakwood at 4 p.m.
