Shoals charity collects toys for needy children

Posted: Updated:

A Tennessee Valley charity is giving back to those in need this holiday season.

The William-Porter Foundation For Children in Need kicked off their annual toy drive Saturday.

The group collected toys to fill their toy store for families in the Shoals area.

Over the last four years the organization has given more than 1,100 children a Merry Christmas.

"Just the spirit of giving, it makes you feel good to know that you are helping children that might not get anything for Christmas at all underneath their Christmas tree and the economy the way it is today it's just devastating the families that are in need," Bonnie Porter, organizer.

Residents can bring your toys to any drop box location until December 9th.

Drop off locations are available at shoe carnival, Monkey 'N Around and Christ Chapel Church in Florence.
