LACEYS SPRING, AL (WAFF) - When it comes to priorities, Desi Burrows already has his in order.
"God is first. School, family, then sports to me. That's what is most important," said Burrows.
This sixth grader at Lacey's Spring School stays true to this "life formula."
He is very active in his church and is a member of the Bible Bowl team.
As good as he is in knowing the "Good Book", he's just as good in knowing others, like his school books.
Desi is a straight A student.
"I just focus on school work and get things done when I get home. I just do what I have to do, and come to school everyday ready and prepared to learn," said Burrows.
This is on top of being class treasurer, as well as quite an athlete, excelling in soccer, baseball, basketball, and wrestling.
However, it doesn't stop there. Desi enjoys volunteering, especially around the holidays, and he has won numerous awards over the years, including the "Right Stuff Award" at Space Camp.
"He is just an awesome student. He's not only great academically, he's just a good kid. He's always doing the right thing. He's a leader among his peers, and he is enthusiastic about everything you do. He loves math and science and all academic subjects. He's just a great all around kid," said teacher Cheryl Hall.
Desi wants to be a professional athlete one day, but plans to get an engineering degree just to have something to fall back on.
"It looks challenging and it has a lot to do with math and you have to figure stuff out," said Burrows.
With a resume like Desi's, it's not hard to figure out that he will accomplish that and much more.
