Anthony Jones Named Finalist for Eddie Robinson Award

Posted: Updated:

NORMAL – Tenth year head coach Anthony Jones was named as a finalist for the Football Championship Subdivision head coach award also known as the Eddie Robinson Award.

Jones and the Bulldogs reversed a 3-8 finish in 2010 by going 8-3, qualifying for the Southwestern Athletic Conference championship game for the fifth time in 10 seasons.

The seven-game winning streak after a 0-2 start is the longest for a Maroon & White team since the 1989 season when George Pugh took the Bulldogs to an 8-4 record and a first round trip to the NCAA Division II playoffs.

The winner of the Robinson Award, presented by The Sports Network and sponsored by Fathead.com, will be announced at the national awards banquet on Friday, Jan. 6 in Frisco, Texas - the night before the national championship game.
