Redstone reacts to debt deal failure and cuts

Washington D.C.'s Super committee failed to come to an agreement on the country's debt.

1.2 trillion dollar automatic cuts will come from defense and non-defense spending.

The cuts won't hit until 2013, but it could impact both Redstone Arsenal and a lot of the government contractors in the area.

Military officials said the cuts could dramatically change the national security strategy. It could also force civilian workers to take mandatory furloughs over an extended period of time.

Redstone Arsenal officials gave WAFF this statement on the debt deal failure.

"When specific defense authorization and budget guidance is received, we will know the resources allocated to meet mission requirements, and execute assigned team Redstone management duties in line with the funding profile received."
